
Andrew Hill

Andrew Hill is an award-winning senior journalist at the Financial Times. He is the FT's Senior Business Writer and Consulting Editor, FT Live.
He contributes longer features, columns and interviews on business, strategy and management. He takes part in video discussions and podcasts, and chairs and moderates many FT Live events. He is a member of the FT’s Editorial Board, which decides the newspaper’s editorial line. For 11 years, until 2022, Andrew was Associate Editor and Management Editor, writing a weekly FT column.
Since joining the FT in 1988, Andrew has worked in various roles, including editor of the daily Lombard column on British business and finance, Financial Editor, Comment & Analysis Editor, New York Bureau Chief, Foreign News Editor, and correspondent in Brussels and Milan. He was named Business Commentator of the Year 2016 in the Editorial Intelligence Comment Awards and Best Commentator at the 2009 Business Journalist of the Year Awards, where he also received the Decade of Excellence award for sustained achievement in business and financial journalism.
Andrewis a member of the advisory council of the Institute of BusinessEthics. He has previously served as trustee and chair of Blueprintfor Better Business, trustee of the Ruskin Foundation, chair ofgovernors, Aboyne Lodge School, and a member of the Alumni AdvisoryBoard of the University of Cambridge.
Andrew’s latestbook is Take Note: A Nimble History of Shorthand (Profile Books,2026). He is also the author of Ruskinland (2019), a personalexploration of the life, work and enduring influence on our world ofJohn Ruskin, the Victorian thinker, and Leadership in the Headlines(2016), a selection of his FT columns and insights about how leaderslead.
